What I have to offer
Childhood should be fun. Since children in daycare are primarily between the ages of 0-4, I like to focus on fun. Once they begin to read and write I offer early education worksheets.One a day at least, if they want to do more... great! Their attention span isn't very big so it's not too fun sitting doing worksheet after worksheet.... though some have surprised me. I encourage outdoor play and make-believe as those play an essential part in a child's mental and physical growth. I encourage them to play together and independently. Each child grows at a different rate and no child is ever expected to be perfect all of the time. I am quite laid back in our day. We do have scheduled meal times and nap times, but if I notice that it is especially beautiful outside we may be out there most of they day. If it's gloomy weather and as a group the children are not interested in crafts, we may watch a G-rated movie. I take my cues from the children, though still make the ultimate decision based on what's best for the group. Schedules are comforting for a child, yet a little change in the daily routines will help a child deal with change...no matter how small.
Outside I believe playtime is just as important as any other learning. If the weather is nice, then I will have outdoor play which includes bikes, balls, climbing structure, and slide
